Dog Handler Training - Lessons for Dog Owners

Training a dog to sit, stay, come or fetch takes very little follow through on the dog owner's part. Once the dog gets it, the activity can be duplicated by most anyone.

It works radically different with matters of behavior. On numerous occasions I have been hired to deal with pack fighting. The dog owner will phone me frustrated, scared and at their wits end telling me about how one dog has started attacking the other. She goes on to tell me how nothing she does helps, if anything her intervening makes it worse.

When I enter into the picture and meet the family, I have the owner take a seat apart from the dogs and I assume her role. Within minutes the fighting has ceased. The owner is astounded. Although she observed the entire session she is convinced that she "missed something." Therein lies the rub & the purpose of my dog owner training program.

In 99.9% of dog behavior related matters there has to be a "shift" that takes place in the owner's consciousness. There is nothing metaphysical about it. Most people understand intellectually what I am talking about. This will not get them the result! The knowing is in the doing and the doing must be consistent!

Sustainable results can only come from a changed dog handler. I am able to get results time & again because I understand the mindset that is required in order to gain & maintain maximum rapport with all dogs no matter what their problem or emotional makeup.
